Moving home more stressful than divorce?!
A new study, commissioned by Yopa, has revealed some interesting findings about peoples’ attitudes to moving to a new house.
Apparently, us Brits find moving home more stressful than getting divorced, having a baby, starting a new job or organising a wedding!
This stops many people from moving home, even if they want to, as they don’t feel they can cope with the stresses and strains associated with moving. It can affect people’s health – according to the research, over a third of people felt extremely anxious or depressed during their last move, with nearly two thirds of people suffering from sleep problems.
Chris Rosindale, Yopa’s Operations Director said, “The study has uncovered some pretty shocking stats… It is problematic that people feel unable or unwilling to move because of the stresses and strains of actually moving house.”
Jamie Smart, Director of smarthomes commented, “People mostly move home for positive reasons – being closer to family, getting a new job, adding to their family, getting into better schools – so it’s such a shame to hear that it can cause this level of stress. As the “Best Estate Agent in the Midlands”* we pride ourselves on our proactive service and clear, regular communications to make the process as smooth and hassle-free as possible.”
