Property market on the move!

After so much uncertainty for so long, with people holding off viewing new properties or holding back on listing their homes, there are signs that this is all changing.

Rightmove, the UK’s largest property marketplace, have recorded their busiest month ever in January 2020 – with over 152 million visits to their site, an increase of 7% from the same time in 2019.

Wednesday 29th January was the busiest day, with over 5.7 million visits just on that one day. It’s clear that people are now feeling more confident to move forward with their property buying plans, now that the UK’s political future is more certain than it has been in a long time.

Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: “Home-movers have sprung into action in 2020, with a large number of agents telling us that sales and valuations have picked up significantly in their local areas. There’s still an imbalance, with demand growing at a faster rate than new supply and no clear sign yet of any uplift in new listings compared to this time last year, but we could see a new wave of sellers in the coming weeks.”

Jamie Smart, Director of smarthomes commented: “We have noticed a large increase in the amount of enquiries we are receiving, which has been steadily climbing from the middle of January. This has resulted in more viewings of those properties that are priced realistically.
