The new priorities for buyers and renters
A recent survey of home-movers has unearthed some interesting information about how people’s priorities have changed, due to the amount of time people have had to spend at home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Buyers now want the following:
- Bigger garden
- Bigger home
- Parking space / garage
- Better workspace at home
- Closer to parks / green spaces
The priority list for renters is very similar:
- Bigger garden
- Bigger home
- Pet-friendly home
- Closer to parks / green spaces
- Parking space / garage
So, anyone looking to sell their home or rent their property in the near future should make sure they don’t ignore the garden. Pictures of a messy, overgrown garden may put people off arranging a viewing. Clear up any weeds, trim back trees, give the fence a lick of paint and inject some colour with some cheap bedding plants. You could even consider clearing out a shed and putting some throws and pillows in to show how it could be a mini summer house.
As for those looking for a bigger home, while you can’t suddenly add an extension on, you can have a clear out and a tidy up, maybe even a re-paint some rooms. The less clutter in your property, and the lighter and brighter it is – the more spacious it will seem.
