Apply for a mortgage in principle 
This is still worth doing even if you haven’t found your perfect home yet. A mortgage in principle is an official estimate from a bank or building society stating how much they are prepared to lend you. It will indicate to the estate agent and the home seller that you are serious about purchasing, and will save you time in the long run, so could well put you ahead of other potential purchasers. Sort your solicitor
