Proportion of home sales completing is on the rise

Despite the uncertainty on the housing market – there is some good news. New research from Quick Move Now has shown that the proportion of property sales falling through before completion has decreased, when compared to the previous quarter and the previous year.

The research discovered that the biggest reason for a sale falling through is the buyer changing their mind, which typically accounts for 40% of instances where the sale does not progress. This indicates that those who are buying a new home are more committed to the process, which is great news for the seller.

Other reasons for a sale falling through included slow progress (33%), difficulty getting a mortgage (20%) and the collapse of the chain (7%).

Danny Luke, Quick Move Now’s Managing Director, commented, ‘The property market is moving at a slower pace and with lower volumes than usual, but there are still people who want, and need, to move. If you have a property to sell, my advice would be to price it attractively, present it well and find out as much as you can about your buyer’s personal circumstances so you can maximise your chances of achieving a successful sale.’

Jamie Smart, Director of smarthomes, added, ‘We work incredibly closely with both our sellers and potential buyers, to really understand both parties’ circumstances and objectives – so that we can manage both their expectations and the sales process as smoothly as possible. Our team have an impressive knowledge of the local area and are completely dedicated to finding the most suitable buyer for our clients.’
